  • Plant a tree or a good-sized shrub, take care of it, and watch it grow. Talk about all the things that are wonderful about trees: e.g. shade, beauty, animal homes, wood for building and paper products, fruit etc.
  •  Pour a tall clear glass of water. Observe, discuss what we can do with it. Make a list. Clean water is extremely important for all of us.
  • Take the same glass of water and “pollute” it – add dirt, brown food coloring etc. Place a couple of stalks of celery in it, and watch the “pollution” climb up the celery over the next few days. What will happen to people and animals that eat polluted and poisoned plants?
  •  All of us live on the planet Earth. There are millions of people living here, and the Earth is the only place that people and animals can live. We have air, and water, and sunshine and trees. It is up to us all to work together to keep Planet Earth clean and comfortable and habitable.  Let’s think of some things that we can do.
